Unit 5 Reading

Summary:

Chapter 8:

When reading chapter eight I came up with a few conclusions about it that I think will really help my design aspect while working with others in the future. This chapter was about keeping user experience in mind without clouding the mind with personal views on the way things should look on a page. When designing a website, just because you like something a certain way, doesn’t mean it should be that way. It should be able to fit along with the design flow of the page and be something a user doesn’t have to think twice about. Designers these days get too wrapped up in what they think something should look like and not about the whole user experience. We need to think more about this because if we don’t put the user’s perspective in our thought process were going to design something that no one will want to come back to.

Chapter 9:

Chapter nine was all about usability testing and why it should be done. I strongly agree with this chapter because I feel that anything needs to be tested, proofread, revised, whatever to be final and look as professional as it should look. I don’t think that any project can even come near its final stages without a little bit of testing just to see what can be fixed and make better. I really liked how it described the difference between a focus group and usability testing. It was good to just know how you can test and in different ways. Good chapter that will come in handy.
